Did you miss me?

You may (or may not) have been wondering why I’ve been so silent recently. I’m blaming everything on COVID these days, even the fact that my subscription thingy stopped working and some of you (perhaps all of you) were not getting notifications of new posts. Truth be told, I never noticed that I wasn’t getting these notifications either. Shows where my head is, right? Anyway, the IT gods assure me that all is now well. Normal service has resumed. If you want to continue to receive email notifications of new posts, you don’t need to do anything. If you’ve gotten used to life without them and would rather not receive them anymore, just click on UNSUBSCRIBE at the end of this message and sever the ties. I’ll miss you.

Stay well. Stay calm. Stay sane. Comment every now and then to let me know you’re still alive and well and weathering the storm.

Here are a few recent posts you may have missed.

A calm coastal bay at sunset, with small fishing boats anchored in the water and houses scattered along the wooded hillsides.

Kravice Waterfalls, Zvirići, Bosnia & Herzegovina

“Close view of a cascading section of Kravica Falls, with clear water flowing over moss-covered tufa rocks and dense green vegetation.”
I'll hold up my hand and admit it: the billboard advertising worked. On the road over from Dubrovnik to Medjugorje, we passed billboard after billboard advertising Kravice waterfalls. A little bit of Googling told us that we could pass pretty close on our way back. We were on holiday. We had time. It went on the list. On the road …

Mostar, Bosnia & Herzegovina

Wrong bridge. Wrong river. But we went there anyway. We had thought, for some odd reason, that the bridge in Mostar was the one Ivo Andrić wrote about in The Bridge on the Drina. But that was the Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge in Višegrad, not the Stari Most over the Neretva River in Mostar. Still, we went. And it was …
Panoramic view of Mostar, Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the historic Old Bridge spanning the Neretva River and mountains in the background.
