I travelled a lot around the USA and Mexico before I ever started blogging. What you see here is where I’ve been since then. Some see Americans as an insular people who don’t travel abroad as much as their European counterparts. But look at the sheer size and diversity of the place. From the beaches of California to the plantations of Georgia, from the Alaskan tundra to the Arizona desert. There is so much to see and do there that it’s no wonder people don’t have the time or inclination to travel outside.

Road and rail are the way to go.  I’ve travelled parts of Route 66 twice in the last few years. One day, I’d like to travel all of what’s left of it. The road from Halifax Nova Scotia to Boston MA in the fall is gobsmackingly gorgeous. The train from Portland OR to St Paul MN was an adventure. Driving across Costa Rica just pipped being driven around Cuba. Each trip was replete with local characters and customs that made every stop special.
